Keep the campsite clean

Join us on the road to zero waste. There is still too much waste left behind at the campsite. That can be different, that can be better. Let's work on this together.

  • Every camper at The Hive or The Hive Resort receives a recycling kit with bin bags upon arrival.Full bags can be delivered to the various recycle/return points. Cleaning up is rewarded. Handing in a full garbage bag at a recycle/return point earns you a Zero Waste Coin. With this Coin, rewards (free Coins, sustainable gadgets) can be bought at the ‘recycle shop’ in Central Park of The Hive. Need an extra garbage bag? Just walk by the recycle/return point for a new one. You can also drop off broken camping gear here. We ensure that these are recycled as much as possible into new raw materials. On Monday, we provide extra drop points for different waste streams. Thank you for cleaning up and sorting.
  • Every year there are those abandoned tents. The average tent weighs 3.5 kg and is mostly made of plastic. Take positive action, reduce your own carbon footprint and take your tent back home and keep reusing them. If that really isn't possible, give your stuff a second life and bring it to a recycle/return point. Where possible, we donate it to a good cause.
  • Campers at The Hive can donate food surpluses to ‘de Voedselbanken’. You can find a collection point in each comfort zone.
  • Drinks are served in reusable cups. You pay a deposit of 0.2 Coin per cup. If you return the empty cup to the bar, the deposit will be added to the Coin balance on your wristband or groupie card. If you return 15 empty RPET bottles or cans, you will receive a free Coin at the drinks stand.
  • You can also donate reusable cups to charity. Drop them in one of our 'gitterboxes'. We donate the proceeds from the cups that end up in the gitterbox to the NGO Join For Water, more specifically the Waterwijs Werchter project and a project in the Andes (Ecuador and Peru).
Free WiFi

Free WiFi is available in every comfort zone and in Central Park.
